The Rowan Class - April
April was a busy and exciting month in Rowan Class, filled with lots of fun, exploration and hands on learning opportunities.
This month, we explored the theme of transport and enjoyed learning about different ways people travel. The children engaged in a variety of transport themed activities, including sensory play, art activities, construction play and movement games, all of which encouraged communication, creativity and social interaction.
We also spent time gardening and caring for our outdoor spaces. The pupils loved getting involved in planting, watering and exploring different textures and materials in nature. Gardening provided wonderful opportunities for sensory exploration and developing independence skills.
Sensory play continued to be a big focus throughout the month, with pupils enjoying a range of messy play and sensory experiences that encouraged curiosity, regulation and engagement. We also had great fun exploring colours through colour mixing activities and discovering how new colours can be created.
In Maths, we focused on shape exploration through interactive games, matching activities and sensory tasks, helping pupils to identify and explore different shapes in meaningful and enjoyable ways.
Music therapy sessions were a highlight of the month, with pupils engaging beautifully in singing, listening, movement and turn taking activities. It was wonderful to see the joy and confidence that music brought to the classroom.
