The Oak Class - February

28th Feb 2026

February was a very busy and enjoyable month for Oak Class. We had lots of opportunities to learn through activities, outings and time spent together.

For Valentine’s Day, the class took part in a lovely cooking activity where we made pancakes and heart shaped cookies together. The children enjoyed measuring, mixing, and cooking, and of course tasting the treats afterwards. It was a great opportunity to practice turn-taking, following instructions and working as a team.

We also had a social outing to McDonald’s after a visit to Ballyseedy Woods. The walk through the woods was a wonderful sensory experience for the children, giving them the chance to explore nature, enjoy the fresh air and practice walking together as a group. Afterwards, the trip to McDonald’s provided a great opportunity to work on social and life skills such as ordering food, waiting patiently and enjoying a meal together.

We also spent time working on puzzles and table-top activities in class. These helped to develop problem-solving, concentration and fine motor skills.

Overall, February was a busy and positive month in Oak Class, full of learning, fun, and opportunities for the children to develop important skills both in the classroom and out in the community.
